No I Am Actually Not a Teen Mother?

So on our first day of travelling, we were in Oregon stopped at a rest stop that happened to have a yellow school bus and a lot of young mothers with thier children.
I went to go change Karina and there was a line for the changing table and a few older ladies gathered around asking questions.
Turns out the young mothers were teen moms on a church camping trip.
Then the older ladies start directing thier questions at me. The teens were from all over the place. It didn't help my case when I was asked where I was from and responded with "outside Boston." And I then got asked if my school had daycare. I'm actually shocked that I wasn't asked if I was one of the Gloucester pregnancy pact girls.
I then figured out that they thought I was a teen mother. I flashed my rings and was like "Oh I'm not one of them, I'm 23. I've been married almost three years."
One of the ladies then was like "Oh honey you looked so young I just assumed...."
And the teens glared at me like "Oh you don't want to be one of us?" and not that I don't want to be a teen mom since that is my favorite show. But I am not one.
I am now not sure if I should be flattered I look that young or if I need to stop dressing in teeny-bopper clothing.
Do I look 16?

  1. Wow! I can't believe they assumed you were a teen mother. You DO NOT look like a teen mom at all.

  2. I guess I heard at some point looking young is like a benefit. But being mistaken as a teen mom is not a benefit.

Also, I find it hilarious that all the girls glared at you. How awful are you for getting married and having a child.

    -AMEN!

Wow, that is just SAD. It's kind of weird to me to see so many churches with teen mom ministries. I mean there is obviously a need for that, but at the same time it almost encourages it in a way, just like having a daycare at a high school, yeah thats nice for the moms to get free childcare and breastfeed during their lunch, BUT when other girls consider getting pregnant so they can be with their 16yr old boyfriend for ever the daycare justifies her teen thinking.

I don't know it's just a different situation to deal with. I substituted at a high school where I was working the high school nursery. One senior girl had THREE babies. One newborn a 1.5 year old and a 3 yr old. . . her and her boyfriend don't understand what they've been given!

AnyWAYS this is a way long comment. . . you look gorgeous and you look like a grown up with a PRECIOUS baby :)
